Porthcurno was the historic centre of telegraph communications from 1870 when the Victorians built the first 'Internet' using undersea cables. The museum has an impressive display of technology, telling the story from its earliest beginning's. Explore the underground caverns from which Britain secretly communicated with the US and The Empire during WWII. There are also many fascinating exhibits illustrating Porthcurno's social history.

A unique museum with a difference, established over 60 years ago and frequently featured in the national media. It is small on the outside, but once inside, you'll be transported back in time, and be amazed at how much there is to see. Enjoy the tranquil surroundings, featuring exhibits from Cornwall's rural past, including waterwheels, a cobbler's shop, an 18th C kitchen, millstones, early domestic and agricultural instruments, and a children's quiz trail.

Geevor Mine

Take a guided underground tour of the last tin mine in Cornwall, which closed in 1990. Geevor is the largest mining history centre in Britain, and is a National Heritage Site.
